I can’t find my wallet key: get back in with your backup key
WalletWallet holders·Updated
Your backup key can add a key on this device, so you can send again. Nothing leaves your wallet.
Before you start
Look for your wallet key first: see where to look. Then, on another device or browser, sign in to the same Swaps account. Your wallet opens there without its key.
Can I get back in from another Swaps account? No. Your backup key works only in the Swaps account that owns the wallet. Another account doesn’t see that wallet, and a new wallet there gets a different address.
Get back in
Choose “I can’t find my key” on your wallet’s home or in Settings › Passkeys. It’s there only if you added a backup key.
Swaps asks “Lost or stolen?” Choose “Lost” if no one else has your wallet key. If someone else may have it, choose “Stolen” and read what to do.
Choose “Create this phone’s key”. Swaps calls the new key “this phone’s key”, on a laptop too. When your browser asks where to save it, keep it on this device, not where your backup key is.
Approve with your backup key, then sign once with the new key.
When you see “You’re back in”, you can send again: “This phone’s key sends on Tempo only. Sends to other networks, Convert, Pay and bank payouts still need your wallet key.”
If Swaps support recorded your wallet key as lost, you also sign “I lost it — no one else has it.” with this device’s key. Swaps then shows “You can send again”, and payments into your wallet wait up to 24 hours for a Swaps check (why).
Money
Swaps pays the network fee to add this device’s key, for up to three device keys on one wallet. Your answer is a signature and costs nothing. A device key stays until you delete it; deleting it is paid from your balance.
Getting back in doesn’t turn off your wallet key: it still works for whoever has it.
