Basics

A stablecoin payment is a dollar token sent on one network.

A stablecoin is a token designed to track a currency, most often the US dollar. Your customer sends it from a wallet or an exchange account to an address made for the payment, on one specific network. Once the network confirms the transfer, the payment counts.

Two details decide whether the money arrives: the coin and the network. That is why a Swaps payment page names both, and the exact total, before your customer sends anything.

One coin, one network. Sending a different coin, or on a different network, can lose the funds.

Choose

Crypto invoice or payment link: choose by how your customer pays.

Both are a link your customer opens without a Swaps account. A crypto invoice is built for stablecoins only. A payment link adds bank transfers.

Step by step

Accept your first stablecoin payment in four steps.

These steps use Crypto processing, where enabled for your account. The dashboard shows whether it is on before you start.

  1. 01Wallet

    Set up your Swaps Wallet.

Crypto invoices settle to your own Swaps Wallet on Tempo. You create it with a passkey on your device: there is no seed phrase, and only you can move what lands in it.

In Crypto processing settings you see the wallet that receives, the accepted networks and the fee.

Keep your passkey safe. Swaps cannot recover a wallet if no usable passkey or synced copy remains.

  2. 02Invoice

    Create a crypto invoice.

Set the amount in USD, from 5.00 USD, and what it is for. The invoice settles to your Swaps Wallet, and the 1% Swaps fee is added on top for your customer.

A new invoice is a draft. Going live is always your own step, also when you create invoices through the API.

  3. 03Your customer pays

Send the link. Your customer pays.

Your customer opens the link, sees the exact total and picks a network: Tempo directly, or Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum or Optimism, where Relay carries the USDC to Tempo. Each payment gets its own deposit address.

Paying from another network adds Relay's cost to what your customer sends. You still receive the full invoice.

  4. 04Settled

    Follow it to Settled.

The payment moves from Awaiting to Detected, Processing, Paid and Settled. Crypto transfers are usually detected within minutes, and nothing is released until the transfer is confirmed.

If less arrives, the payment reads Underpaid and your customer sends the rest to the same address. If more arrives, it reads Overpaid, and support reviews the extra for a possible return after checking its source and a safe destination; network fees may apply.

Cost

On a crypto invoice, your customer pays 1%. You receive the full amount.

On a crypto invoice the 1% Swaps fee is added on top, and your customer sees it with the exact total before paying. Their own network cost is theirs too. A payment link has no setup or monthly fee. Crypto on Tempo or Relay: payer adds 1%. Cross-chain via Bridge and bank: 1% is deducted from what you receive.

Trust

In your wallet, only you can move the money.

A passkey on your device signs every move from your Swaps Wallet. Swaps has no wallet key. Provider and token restrictions may still apply.

On the way in, each payment on Tempo goes to a deposit address made for it, and a payment contract releases it on-chain to your wallet. The contract can pay only two places: you, and the Swaps fee. From another network, Relay carries the USDC to Tempo. On payment links, bank payments are processed by Bridge, the provider for supported bank services.

Swaps provides the interface and transaction coordination.

FAQ

Questions about stablecoin payments.

Can my business accept USDC without a bank account?

Yes, with Crypto processing where enabled for your account. Payments settle to your own Swaps Wallet on Tempo. Bank services and other provider routes have their own verification requirements.

Which stablecoins and networks can my customers use?

On Tempo: USDC.e, pathUSD, USDT0, USD1 or cUSD. From Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum or Optimism: USDC, carried to Tempo by Relay. Solana is not available yet.

Who pays the fee?

Your customer. A 1% Swaps fee is added on top of a crypto invoice, so you receive the full amount. Paying from another network also adds Relay's cost to what your customer sends.

Can my customers pay by bank transfer instead?

With a payment link, yes, where enabled for your account: for example ACH, wire or FedNow in USD and SEPA in EUR, processed by Bridge. Crypto invoices take stablecoins only.

How fast does a stablecoin payment arrive?

Crypto transfers are usually detected within minutes, and nothing is released until the transfer is confirmed. The payment page shows each status as it happens.

Can I create crypto invoices from my own code?

Yes. Create them with POST /v1/payment_links and follow them with /v1/payments. Agents can draft invoices through MCP. Going live is always your own step.
