Risk Disclosure

Last updated: 2026-06-27 Version: 2.1

Read this before using Swaps. By using the Service, you confirm you have read and understood the risks described here.

1. Crypto-asset market risk

Cryptocurrency prices are volatile. Prices can move 10%, 30%, or more within minutes. You can lose any or all of the value of any crypto-asset you buy, sell, or swap.

  • No guarantee of value. Crypto-assets are not legal tender in most jurisdictions. They are not backed by any government, central bank, or commodity. Their value depends on what the market is willing to pay for them at any given moment, which can change without warning.
  • No deposit insurance. Crypto-assets you hold (at Providers, wallets, or anywhere else) are not covered by any deposit-protection scheme like the EU's Deposit Guarantee Schemes Directive or the US FDIC. If a Provider or custodian fails, you may lose everything held with them.
  • Past performance does not predict future results. Historical price charts shown on the Service are informational. They are not predictions.
  • Liquidity risk. Some crypto-assets are thinly traded. Even if a price is shown, you may not be able to sell at that price in size, or at all.

2. Provider risk

When you use the Service, you transact with a third-party Provider — not with Swaps. The Provider holds your funds during the transaction. Provider-related risks include:

  • Provider failure or insolvency. Providers can become insolvent, freeze withdrawals, suffer security breaches, or shut down. If a Provider fails while it holds your funds, your claim is against the Provider, not Swaps.
  • KYC denial. A Provider may decline to verify your identity, in which case the transaction does not proceed. Refund of any payment already made depends on the Provider's policy.
  • Frozen or held transactions. A Provider may freeze a transaction for compliance review. We have no control over this and cannot force release of funds held by a Provider.
  • Different terms. Each Provider has its own terms of service, fees, refund policy, and dispute process. You must read those before transacting.
  • Provider error. Providers can quote incorrect prices, execute against the wrong network, or otherwise err. Your remedy is against the Provider.

3. Quote and rate risk

  • Preview is not binding. Quotes shown on the Service are previews based on Provider data refreshed every ~30 seconds. The binding quote is the one the Provider gives you at its checkout, and it can differ.
  • Market movement between preview and checkout. Markets can move sharply in the seconds between when you see a preview and when the Provider quotes you. The Service reconfirms with you if the price moves more than 50 basis points, but smaller movements are not reconfirmed.
  • Payment-method differences. Card, bank transfer, SEPA, UPI, and other payment methods can produce different effective rates due to Provider fee structures.

4. Network and execution risk

  • Wrong network. Sending crypto on the wrong network (e.g., USDT on Tron when you needed ERC-20) is often irrecoverable. Confirm network compatibility before sending. The Service shows the network for each pair; you are responsible for verifying.
  • Wrong address. Sending crypto to a wrong or mistyped address is irrecoverable. Once a transaction confirms on-chain, it cannot be reversed by Swaps or by the Provider.
  • Network congestion. Blockchains can experience high traffic that delays transactions or requires higher fees.
  • Forks and reorgs. Blockchains can fork, reorganise, or undergo consensus changes that affect your transactions or holdings.

5. Search Address Report — what it is and what it is not

The Search Address Report is informational only. It is not legal evidence, not a certification of fraud or theft, not an expert opinion, and not investment advice.

  • No guaranteed accuracy. Reports are built from public blockchain data and third-party risk feeds. Feeds can be incomplete or out of date. A "clean" report does not guarantee an address is safe; a "flagged" report does not guarantee an address is involved in wrongdoing.
  • Not law-enforcement. Swaps is not a law-enforcement agency. Reports may be useful as a starting point for investigation by you, your lawyer, or law enforcement, but they are not a substitute for any of those.
  • Reports are not opinions. Reports are automated outputs. We do not certify any conclusion drawn from them.

See the Search Address Report Terms for full details on the Search product, including refund policy.

6. AI-generated content risk

Parts of the Service use AI (AI Concierge, agent.swaps.app endpoints, MCP responses). AI-generated content can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or hallucinated. See the AI Disclosure. Verify AI-generated answers before relying on them.

7. Regulatory risk

Cryptocurrency law differs by jurisdiction and changes. A transaction lawful today may not be lawful tomorrow. A coin lawful in your jurisdiction may not be lawful in another. Compliance with the law of your jurisdiction is your responsibility.

  • Sanctions. You must not use the Service if you are in a sanctioned jurisdiction or on a sanctions list. See the Sanctions policy.
  • Tax. You are responsible for declaring and paying tax on your crypto activity. We do not give tax advice. We do not file tax forms for you. We may be obliged to share transaction-metadata with tax authorities upon lawful request.

8. Security risk

  • Phishing. Attackers impersonate crypto services to steal funds. Always verify you are on swaps.app (note the spelling — no typos), and never type your seed phrase into any website or share it with anyone claiming to be support.
  • SIM swap and social engineering. Anyone with access to your email or phone can attempt to take over your Account. Use a strong password, enable 2FA where offered, and keep your email account secure.
  • Wallet security. If you lose access to your wallet (lost seed phrase, broken device, forgotten password), Swaps cannot recover it. Wallets are non-custodial — only you have your keys.

Swaps will NEVER:

  • Ask you for your wallet seed phrase or private key.
  • Ask you to "validate" your wallet by sending crypto to a Swaps address.
  • Call you on the phone asking for credentials.
  • Email you asking for passwords.

Anyone doing any of these is impersonating Swaps. Report impersonation to security@swaps.app.

9. Provider chargebacks and disputes

If you pay a Provider by card and later raise a chargeback with your bank, the Provider may pursue you for the value of crypto already delivered to you. Swaps is not a party to that dispute. Chargeback abuse may also result in your Account being suspended on the Service.

10. No investment advice — no recommendation

Nothing on the Service is investment advice, financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or swap any specific crypto-asset. Crypto prices shown, asset descriptions, blog posts, AI Concierge answers, and any other content are informational. You make your own decisions and are solely responsible for the consequences.

If you use Payment Links — as a merchant requesting payment or as a payer sending it — the following risks apply:

  • Push-payments can be irreversible. Once a payer pushes a payment over a rail, it may not be reversible. Send carefully and confirm the amount and destination before sending.
  • Wrong or missing reference code. Each request is matched by a unique reference code, not by sender name. A payment sent without the correct reference may be delayed, unmatched, lost, or returned by the Provider.
  • Underpayment and overpayment. Amounts outside the Provider's tolerance are handled by the Provider; Swaps does not top up, hold, or return any difference.
  • Swaps never holds the funds. Swaps is never a destination for Payment Link funds and cannot reverse, refund, or claw back a payment. Refunds and disputes are between the payer, the merchant, and the Provider.

See the Payment Link Terms for full details.

12. Payroll risk

If you use Payroll, the following risks apply:

  • Execution-only. Swaps does not calculate payroll, withhold or file tax, issue payslips, classify workers, or keep employment records. The Employer bears all tax, filing, payslip, worker-classification, and record-keeping responsibility. The figures you enter are the figures instructed for payout, unchanged.
  • Wrong destinations may be irreversible. A payout sent to an incorrect destination supplied by the Employer is the Employer's responsibility; crypto payouts in particular may be irreversible once sent.
  • Settlement is the Provider's. The regulated Provider executes and settles all payouts. Swaps never holds the funds and cannot reverse, recall, or refund a payout; failed, delayed, or reversed payouts are handled by the Provider under its terms.

See the Payroll Terms for full details.

13. Wallet Service risk

The Swaps Wallet Service is live (Beta) and non-custodial. The risks below apply to your use of it. As a Beta product, the Wallet may contain bugs or change.

  • Self-custody. The Wallet is non-custodial. The passkey / signing material is created and held exclusively by your device, browser, or password manager. Swaps holds no keys.
  • Loss is permanent and unrecoverable. If you lose access to the device or password manager that holds your passkey, you may permanently and irrecoverably lose access to the Wallet. Swaps cannot recover it for you, because Swaps holds no signing material and there is no Swaps-side reset.
  • On-chain transactions are irreversible. Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible, and addresses are case-sensitive. Network conditions are outside Swaps' control.
  • Wallet-adjacent routes are separate. Direct Tempo receive/send is the wallet-only path. Cross-network routes, fiat buy/sell, Payment Links, Pay Invoice, and Payroll may rely on Provider or protocol infrastructure, their own eligibility checks, and their own status or settlement limits.
  • No unilateral Swaps control. Swaps may display balances, prepare transaction data, submit user-authorized signed transactions, and show status. It cannot unilaterally move, freeze, recover, or settle your Wallet funds.

See the Wallet Service Terms for full details.
