Bank-level compliance — what your bank sees
Category: Security & Trust
Answer
Even after a payout clears the offramp provider, your receiving bank applies its own compliance checks before crediting your account. Banks are independent of Swaps and apply their own rules. Name-match. The beneficiary name on the incoming transfer must align with the account holder's legal name on file with the bank. A small typo or a missing middle initial is usually fine; a substantively different name (different surname, different first name) can trigger a return-to-sender.
Make sure the name on your saved destination is the legal name on the bank account, not a nickname or business trading name. Source-of-funds language. Many transfer descriptions include a reference field — for example "Crypto sale via Bridge.xyz" or "Sale of digital assets". Banks read this. A clear, factual description rarely causes friction. Vague references like "transfer" or "personal" can prompt the bank to ask you for documentation before releasing the funds. AML / CTF risk.
Banks score every inbound transfer for anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing risk. Higher-value transfers, transfers from cross-border corridors, and transfers from sectors the bank does not normally see (such as crypto) can all elevate the risk score and trigger a manual review. The bank may call you, send a secure message, or freeze the funds for 1–3 business days while it reviews.
If your bank contacts you about a Swaps payout, respond promptly with the transaction reference from your dashboard and the supporting documents the bank requests. Cooperation almost always resolves the review without losing the funds.
About this answer
Swaps is a comparison and routing product for crypto on/off-ramp providers. Every quote shown is live, every receive amount is the actual amount your wallet (or bank) will get, and every corridor is filtered for whether it can actually complete in your specific country with your specific payment method.
