Oasis Network (ROSE)
Privacy-first blockchain. Confidential smart contracts.
What is Oasis Network?
Oasis Network is a blockchain designed for privacy-preserving applications. It uses secure computing technology (like TEEs — Trusted Execution Environments) to enable confidential smart contracts where data is processed without being visible to validators or the public. This makes Oasis suitable for use cases that require privacy: healthcare data, financial records, and personal information.
ROSE is the native token used for staking, gas fees, and governance. Validators stake ROSE to secure the network. Users pay ROSE for transactions. The Oasis Network separates consensus from execution, allowing for higher throughput and flexibility.
Oasis has partnerships with BMW, Binance, and Meta (for ROSE-based data privacy research). The platform enables DeFi applications that comply with data privacy regulations like GDPR.
How Oasis Network Works
Oasis uses a dual-layer architecture: the Consensus Layer (for transaction ordering and security) and the ParaTime Layer (for smart contract execution). ParaTimes are parallel execution environments — each can be customized for specific use cases. The Oasis Sapphire ParaTime supports confidential smart contracts using TEEs, which encrypt data during computation. Only the parties involved see the data; even validators cannot. Developers write contracts in Solidity (EVM-compatible), and privacy is handled automatically.

Team & Development
Oasis Network was founded by Dawn Song, a professor of computer security at UC Berkeley and a MacArthur Fellow. The Oasis Foundation launched in 2018, and the mainnet went live in 2020. The project raised funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Polychain Capital, Binance Labs, and others. Development is led by Oasis Labs and the Oasis Foundation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Oasis different from other privacy blockchains like Monero?
Monero focuses on private transactions (hiding sender, receiver, and amount). Oasis focuses on confidential computation — you can run smart contracts where the data stays private. Oasis is programmable and supports DeFi, NFTs, and other dApps. Monero is a privacy coin.
What is a TEE (Trusted Execution Environment)?
A TEE is a secure area inside a processor where computations happen in isolation. Even the operating system can't see what's happening inside. Oasis uses TEEs (like Intel SGX) to run smart contracts confidentially. Data is encrypted during execution, so validators can't read it.
Where do I store ROSE?
ROSE is the native token of the Oasis Network. Use the Oasis Wallet (official), Ledger (with Oasis app), or supported wallets like Bitpie.
Can I sell or swap ROSE?
Yes. Swaps supports selling ROSE for fiat and swapping it for other tokens.
