Illuvium is an open-world role-playing game built on Ethereum. Players explore alien landscapes, capture creatures called Illuvials (NFTs), and battle in PvP arenas. The game is designed to rival traditional AAA titles in graphics and gameplay, while integrating blockchain for true ownership of in-game assets.

ILV is the governance and staking token. Stakers earn rewards from the Illuvium treasury (funded by in-game purchases and NFT sales). ILV holders vote on game features, balancing changes, and the direction of the Illuvium DAO. The game also uses sILV (synthetic ILV) for in-game purchases.

How Illuvium Works

Illuvium is a free-to-play RPG. You explore the world, battle wild Illuvials, capture them as NFTs, and train them for PvP combat. All Illuvials, items, and land are NFTs that you truly own and can trade on the IlluviDEX (the game's marketplace) or OpenSea. Staking ILV earns you rewards from in-game revenue. ILV holders can lock tokens for up to 1 year to boost rewards and gain voting power. The game uses Immutable X (a layer 2) for cheap, fast NFT minting and trading.

Team & Development

Illuvium was founded by Kieran and Aaron Warwick (Aaron is the brother of Kain Warwick, founder of Synthetix). The project launched in 2020 and raised funding from Framework Ventures, IOSG Ventures, and others. The team includes game developers from major studios and Synthetix contributors. Illuvium is governed by the Illuvium DAO.

ILV is the governance and staking token you can buy and trade. sILV (synthetic ILV) is an in-game currency earned through gameplay and used for purchases within Illuvium. You cannot trade sILV — it's locked to the game economy.
