VeChain (VET)
Supply chain on blockchain. Track anything, trust everything.
What is VeChain?
VeChain is a blockchain platform designed for supply chain management and business processes. It lets companies track products from factory to consumer, creating an immutable record of every step in the supply chain. When you scan a product's NFC tag or QR code, you can verify its authenticity and see its complete journey.
The platform has real enterprise adoption. Walmart China uses VeChain to track food safety across hundreds of product categories. DNV (one of the world's largest classification societies) uses VeChain for sustainability auditing. BMW tracks vehicle data, and luxury brands verify product authenticity — all on VeChain.
VeChain uses a dual-token model: VET is the value transfer and staking token, while VTHO (VeThor) is the gas token used to pay for transactions. Holding VET automatically generates VTHO over time, covering transaction costs for regular users.
How VeChain Works
VeChain attaches digital identities to physical products using NFC chips, QR codes, or RFID tags. As a product moves through the supply chain — from manufacturer to shipper to warehouse to store — each handler scans the tag and records data on VeChain's blockchain. This creates a tamper-proof history that anyone can verify. A consumer scanning a luxury handbag can see where it was made, when, and every step it took to reach them. The blockchain makes this record permanent and impossible to fake.

- Product authenticity verification for luxury goods and pharmaceuticals
- Carbon credit tracking and sustainability reporting
- Dual-token model: VET for value, VTHO for gas fees
- ToolChain — low-code platform for enterprise blockchain adoption
Team & Development
VeChain was founded by Sunny Lu in 2015. Lu was previously the CIO of Louis Vuitton China, giving him direct experience with supply chain challenges in luxury goods. The VeChain Foundation coordinates development, and the project has one of the strongest enterprise partnership networks in crypto, particularly in Asia and Europe.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between VET and VTHO?
VET is the main token for value transfer and staking. VTHO (VeThor) is the gas token used to pay transaction fees. Holding VET automatically generates VTHO over time — like earning interest that pays for your transaction costs.
What wallet supports VET?
VeChainThor Wallet (official), Sync2 (desktop), and Trust Wallet all support VET. Ledger hardware wallets work for cold storage. Use a VeChain-compatible wallet — Ethereum wallets will not work.
Which companies use VeChain?
Walmart China (food tracking), DNV (sustainability auditing), BMW (vehicle data), LVMH (luxury authentication), and many others. VeChain has one of the strongest enterprise adoption records in blockchain.
Can I sell or swap VET?
Yes. Swaps supports selling VET for fiat and swapping it for other tokens.
