Question 1

Can I buy crypto with M-Pesa on Swaps?

Accepted Answer

Not right now. Swaps has no live M-Pesa route today: the local Partna KES corridor has been paused since 2026-05-07 at Partna’s request, and no other provider currently offers a live KES M-Pesa quote on Swaps. When a route returns, selecting M-Pesa will request a live method-specific quote before checkout.

Question 2

Why is the rate checked only after I select M-Pesa?

Accepted Answer

No M-Pesa route is live today, so Swaps does not request M-Pesa quotes. When an M-Pesa route was live, its pricing depended on the exact payment method, so Swaps requested one quote only after you selected M-Pesa instead of generating background M-Pesa quotes.

Question 3

Do I need a bank account to use M-Pesa?

Accepted Answer

No. M-Pesa works as a mobile wallet tied to your phone number. You just need an M-Pesa account with sufficient balance.

Question 4

Can I sell crypto to M-Pesa?

Accepted Answer

Not currently. The local Partna KES on/off-ramp, which carried M-Pesa payouts, has been paused since 2026-05-07, and Swaps has no other live M-Pesa payout route.
